Our E Series engineered bamboo flooring features a bamboo wear surface layer laminated to an 8-ply base. The higher the ply count of a laminate bamboo floor, the more stability it has, which helps to protect against expansion and contraction from moisture. Engineered bamboo floors are even more resistant to the effects of moisture than solid wood is, which makes them the ideal for basements or concrete surfaces. While bamboo in general is a moisture-resistant material, engineered bamboo floors give you added moisture protection, which means added peace of mind for you.
Even though all bamboo has a lower expansion rate than hardwoods, an engineered bamboo floor will contract and expands even less than non-engineered bamboo, so it is recommended for dry climates as well as humid climates. This flooring is precision-engineered to be dimensionally stable and is used in glue down, cleat, and floating floor (meaning the floor pieces are glued to each other rather than to the surface below) construction, often when the sub flooring is concrete. Since there aren't very many wood flooring options available for installation over concrete sub flooring, engineered laminate bamboo floors are ideal for those who are not only looking for a convenient flooring solution, but an attractive one as well.
