Customer Story: Cozy Carbonized in Connecticut

For the latest edition of our customer stories, we’re heading up north to Connecticut where Theresa Condict recently completed an expansive renovation. Using our strand woven carbonized bamboo floors, Theresa brought a natural, warm tone to some rooms needing an update. Up next (or down, perhaps): the stairs! Read more to learn how you could be the next happy customer to upgrade a floor from the floor up.

Q: What was your reasoning for buying new floors?:

A: We were replacing old carpet in our office and guest bedroom upstairs, as well as the upstairs hallway and staircase. We chose bamboo because it’s more sustainable than hardwood, can be refinished, and is more durable.

Q: What stuck out about Ambient that led to your purchase?

A: I researched reputable bamboo flooring companies online. Because we were doing the floors and a staircase, I wanted to go with a company that sold matching stair treads to go with the floors. I also liked the wide selection of styles that Ambient had, and found their price point comparable with the competition. I wanted a solid strand bamboo that could be refinished in the future, and the color of the Carbonized bamboo was exactly what we were looking for.

Q: What was your installation process like? Did anything specific make it easy or difficult?

A: We had our floors installed by a local company. They had a bit of trouble nailing it down at first because the bamboo is such a hard wood, but after getting some tips from Ambient’s customer service team, they were able to figure out the best way to lay it down.

Q: Any advice to other prospective buyers?

A: If you are having the floors nailed down, be sure to find a company that has done bamboo floors before, as it can be trickier than normal hardwood.

Q: Are you happy with the results?

A: We are very happy with our Carbonized bamboo floors,  and they have been very durable so far! The floors bring a nice warm tone to the room, and compliment the brighter white walls. We will be replacing our stairs next with matching treads to complete the upstairs renovation!
